Start when the students reach the stage, respectful Principal, Respected Sir and Madam, and greetings to all my colleagues.  On Republic Day, I thank all of you for giving me a great opportunity to speak.  My name is Sonu and I am a student of class 10th.

We and you have gathered here today to celebrate the 71st Republic Day of the country.  Republic (gana + tantra) means rule of the people by the people.  We celebrate Republic Day on 26 January every year as the Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950.  Since then we have been celebrating Republic Day.

The best part of this day is that people of all castes and religions make Republic Day together.  Our country is a democratic country.  The constitution of the country rests with the people in the country to choose the political leader.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of India.  He had said, we have got the authority of our complete great and vast country in one constitution and union.  Who takes responsibility for the welfare of the people living in the country.

After the independence of the country, we have developed a lot and we are being counted among the powerful countries.  But after so many years of independence our country is grappling with problems like crime, corruption and violence.  Which is a shame on us.

We need to come together once again to make India the best country in the world and to solve such problems in society.  Things like poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, global warming, inequality, etc. of the country will have to be well understood and solved. Republic Day sale
